Internship FAQ
InternshipFAQ
FAQ: Internship at Ravenscroft & Schmier
- 01We accept internship applications year-round. For local applicants who do not require a visa, the application process usually begins one to two months before the desired start date. We typically have one to two interns at any given time. The most competitive period is from June to August, when most Hong Kong students are on summer break.
- 02The process varies depending on the type of internship, duration, and visa requirements. In most cases, applications follow these steps: Submit your application through LinkedIn or our website. Receive an invitation to record and submit a short video introduction. Receive confirmation that your video was received. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted afterward. Wait for updates. Depending on the season, this may take several weeks or months. If shortlisted, provide transcripts and certificates upon request. Attend additional interview or interviews, either online or in person. Complete reference and background checks. Receive an offer if successful. Following our social media or subscribing to our newsletter is optional and does not influence your application. A complete and active LinkedIn profile is required. Some candidates may receive LinkedIn coaching during the process, but this does not guarantee an internship. The coaching is provided because we believe all legal professionals should maintain an active and professional LinkedIn presence.
- 03We try to respond quickly. Most applicants receive the video submission invitation within one day. However, due to the number of applications, delays are possible. After you submit your video, updates may take several weeks. Timing depends on the period of the year. For example, if you apply in November for a summer internship, updates usually cannot be provided until late spring, when we have a clearer picture of available work. Applicants are welcome to follow up at any time, preferably by phone.
- 04Your responsibilities depend on the internship type. Tasks may include: Legal research Bundling and preparing documents Drafting or summarising documents Participating in marketing or communications work Other tasks appropriate for your experience and skill level Working hours in Hong Kong law firms are typically long and often extend beyond the usual 9 am to 6 pm schedule.
- 05Duration depends on availability and department needs: Local Hong Kong students usually intern for about one month. Applicants requiring a visa must be available for at least three months.
- 06Yes. We offer internships in several areas, including: Legal Compliance and CSR Marketing, videography, and editing Accounting and finance Operations and HR
- 07No. All interns and employees must maintain an active LinkedIn presence. This includes: Posting monthly Commenting regularly Reacting daily to relevant content Maintaining a complete profile with a suitable photo Listing relevant experience and education If you prefer to keep a minimal or silent presence on LinkedIn, your application is unlikely to succeed.
- 08No. All interns are expected to appear in video content that may be published online. This is an important part of professional development. Future legal professionals often appear in webinars, panel discussions, media interviews, and other public settings. We want interns to become comfortable with this early in their careers. It is normal to feel nervous at first, but the skill improves with practice.
